How to Install Plesk On Windows

Set Up Plesk With A Single Click

Looking for a swift and simple method to get your Plesk server operational with the basic setup? Try the one-click installation. Here's the easy-peasy way to do it:

1. Employ RDP for server access.

2. Fetch the Plesk Installer.

3. Open the Windows command prompt, change the working directory to the location where you've stored the installer binary, and execute this command:

4. plesk-installer.exe --select-product-id=panel --select-release-latest --installation-type=recommended

Now, sit back and relax as the installation kicks off with the newest release, taking about 30-60 minutes. The installer fetches the latest (and stable) Plesk version, packing in the most popular and widely-used features to cater to a broad user base. Following this, it hunts for the freshest performance and security updates and patches, installing them as well.

Feel like you're missing out on some Plesk components and features? No worries! You can add or subtract elements whenever you want. If you prefer a bit more control during your initial setup, consider using the web GUI or the console instead.

Setting Up Plesk on Windows Through a Web Browser

If you're looking to customize your Plesk installation, the graphical interface is the way to go. Here's the process:

1. Access the server via RDP.

2. Grab the Plesk Installer.

3. Open the Windows command prompt, navigate to the directory where you saved the installer binary, and execute this command:

plesk-installer.exe --web-interface

This will launch the installer GUI in your browser.

If you wish to install a previous version of Plesk, input:

plesk-installer.exe --web-interface --all-versions

Select a language for the interface and then sign in with your Windows administrator credentials to proceed. You'll be greeted by the installer GUI welcome screen. This is your go-to place for future updates, additions or removals of Plesk components, but for now, you're simply installing Plesk.

If you want to tweak the installation settings, click on Updates source and installation settings.

Here, you can:

Alter the default download location for the installation files (originally the Plesk servers). You can direct the system to search for them in a different location, like a local mirror or local disk.

Modify the destination of the downloaded installation files

Set up the HTTP proxy server address, and input the username and password.

Switch the language of the installer interface.

Once you're satisfied with your choices, hit Save to move on to the next step.

Click Install or Upgrade Product on the welcome screen to proceed.

Now, you get to pick the Plesk version you want to install. Tick the box next to Plesk, select your preferred version and installation type. In the example above, you're opting for Plesk Obsidian, the latest stable release. If you executed the installer with the €“all-versions option, the list of available Plesk versions will vary.

The features and components that will be installed depend on the installation type you select:

Recommended is the type that provides all the essential elements for web hosting€”like a web server, mail server, database server, etc.€”along with a variety of the most commonly used features. This is the best choice if you're still unsure of your needs.

Opting for the Full installation type, as the name suggests, provides you with all the features that Plesk can offer. However, ensure you have ample disk space as it can be quite consuming.

The Custom installation type, on the other hand, allows you to selectively install elements from a list. This option is best suited for confident admins with prior Plesk experience.

Don't fret about making a mistake in your choice at this stage. There's no such thing as a wrong choice here. With Plesk, you can always modify components and features later until you achieve your desired system setup.

After deciding on the type of installation, you may be prompted to adjust additional settings, such as the Plesk installation directory, the location for the content of websites hosted in Plesk, and the Plesk "admin" user password (which, along with your username, grants you access to Plesk).

Once you've adjusted the settings, hit Continue to commence the installation.
